My son Isaac (9) has been having lessons with Rick for the past few months. Mostly online but now face to face.
Isaac has come on leaps and bounds and I can see he is more inspired to practice and play drums. When I watch him practice, I’m amazed! He has worked on classic feel good rock songs but also learnt theory and technique but in a very fun way!
Isaac is always inspired after each lesson and knows what he needs to work on for the following week. It is very structured and it’s working well!
Rick is very professional. Calm and fun mannered and Isaac feels comfortable learning from him.
My 9 year old LOVES coming to drums. He practices and loves showing Rick what he’s learned. He can’t wait for Thursdays to come around.

Having watched my son play drums over the years, I always envied him that talent – but life went on and when I retired, I thought I’d left it too late. But I was wrong! When the pandemic slowed life down, and with a set of drums sitting idle in the cellar, it seemed the perfect opportunity to fulfil my dream. Rick is a patient and intuitive teacher, with a great Covid-safe set up in the Drum Room. He always injects some fun into lessons and I always come away full of enthusiasm, feeling I’ve made some progress. So, my advice is, don’t let age stand in your way – go for it, you’ll love it!
Rick is a great teacher and has helped me progress massively with my drumming since I’ve started lessons. The lessons are always fun and I enjoy challenging myself with the pieces and techniques he demonstrates. He is very supportive and motivates me to improve.
My daughter has recently started drum lessons with Rick and absolutely loves them. She was already playing to quite a good standard and working towards her Grade 6 exam and Rick was able to see what she needed to do to improve her technique. She has made excellent progress with drumming and has also learned lots about the kit, including how to tune it and advice on drum hardware. The Drum Room is a great set up and as a parent, I am very grateful to have found it.
